Every detecting journey is packed with surprises — and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting! Recently, one of our fellow detectorists from Portugal shared his latest adventure with us using a QUEST detector… and guess what he uncovered? His second 1827 “Pataco” coin!🎉🎉🎉
The Pataco is no ordinary coin. It’s a big, heavy copper piece and one of the most iconic currencies of its time in Portugal. Just imagine pulling a massive coin like this from the ground — the size and weight alone make your heart skip a beat. Compared to other old coins, the Pataco instantly stands out with its unique presence.
And that’s not all. Alongside the Pataco, he also discovered more coins from the 18th and 19th centuries, plus a lead bullet (possibly from the French invasions), and a few other fascinating relics.
We’re absolutely thrilled to see our QUEST detector helping uncover such treasures. Finds like this aren’t just about the objects themselves — they’re proof of passion, persistence, and the power of great equipment.
