Community Rules
Quest Club is where detectorists share finds and get help identifying them. These rules apply to every post, comment and photo, on the app or the website, no matter what detector brand you use. Read this once — it takes about three minutes.
Respect & safety
Be respectful. No harassment, personal attacks, hate speech or discrimination.
Don't impersonate Quest staff, moderators or other members. Official accounts carry an official badge.
Don't mock or encourage defiance against landowners or law enforcement.
Don't share someone else's personal details (name, address, contact info), and don't post a recognizable photo of another person without their consent.
Location privacy — no exact coordinates
This is the strictest rule on Club, because a published find spot is a map for looters and vandals.
Never post exact coordinates, in any form — GPS, Plus Codes, What3Words, GPX/KML tracks, or a map screenshot with a pin.
Describe location only down to country or broad region ("eastern England", not a field name).
Don't post details that let people piece a spot together — street signs, landmark combinations, identifiable private property.
The app strips photo location data (EXIF) automatically before upload — but that only protects what the system carries. What you write in the caption is on you.
Don't ask another member for their exact spot, in a comment or in private. Moderators won't ask either.
Legal detecting — land, sites & war relics
Only detect where you have the landowner's or manager's permission. Posting a find is treated as saying you had it.
Don't post — or encourage — detecting on private land without permission (no "hopped the fence" stories).
Don't post finds from protected heritage sites, scheduled monuments, national parks or nature reserves, and never post anything that looks like looting (trenches, disturbed graves, robbed-out layers).
Report items of likely archaeological or historical value through your local legal process. We may ask about it if you post such a find.
No buying, selling or valuing artifacts here, and no links to sites that do.
If you find human remains, stop, don't photograph or post, and contact local authorities.
If you find anything that could be a shell, grenade, mine, fuze or other munition: stop, don't touch, don't move, don't clean it, walk away and call the local police or bomb disposal service. Never post how to disarm, clean or transport ordnance — there is no "educational" exception. Confirmed-inert relics (an empty casing, a badge, a dog tag) are fine to share once they've been cleared by the relevant authority.
Posting guidelines
Post your own photos, or someone else's with their permission and credit. No stock photos or AI images passed off as a real find.
Don't stage or fake a find (burying something to "discover" it on camera).
Device brand is optional. Everyone hunting with a metal detector is welcome here, whatever you use.
No selling, promoting or advertising anything — including Quest's own products. Club stays a find-and-discuss space, not a marketplace.
You're responsible for what you post. Official curation (Find of the Week, featured posts) is not a legal endorsement — it just means we liked the story.
Reporting & enforcement
Reported content is hidden from other members right away while it's reviewed. That's a safety step, not a verdict — being reported doesn't mean you did something wrong.
Reports that involve immediate safety (like an unexploded item) or a legal risk get looked at first.
If we take action on your content, we'll tell you which rule it involved.
If you think a decision was wrong, you can appeal — reach us through the in-app report/contact option.
We can also act on content we spot ourselves, without waiting for a report.
Accounts & deletion
You must meet the minimum age to hold an account where you live.
One account works across the Quest website, Club and the app — there's only one sign-in.
If you delete your account, your posts stay up so the community discussion around them isn't broken for other members, but they're shown under an anonymized name instead of yours. Your device, order and warranty records are not affected by a Club account deletion.
If we make a significant change to these rules, you'll be asked to accept the new version before you can keep posting.
