I just recently purchased a Quest x5 and I am excited. I have not taken it in the field yet(hopefully this weekend) but I am already in love. Set up was easy and I think the features that this detector offers at this price point is amazing. I am relatively new to metal detecting but I own 2 other detectors. The very first detector I bought was a Harbor Freight 9 function detector. This detector is a copy of the Bounty Hunter Tracker II and I think works exceptionally well for what it is. It is a "beep and dig" detector but has good discrimination and is a coin finding demon. It does not have great depth but what do you expect for $45. At any rate, I was bit by the metal detecting bug. The next detector I bought was a Bounty Hunter Tracker Pro. This is the same detector as the Lone Star Pro with a blue face plate and a 7"coil versus the 8" coil of the Lone Star Pro. It's OK and is not a bad detector but to be honest I like using the HF9F more. I only paid $43 for it when Jet**** had a sale on them. If you haven't noticed I am frugal(some would say cheap). As in other hobbies, everyone has their own opinion and experiences and that's great because we get to share. The x5 is my first"major" investment and I am looking forward to using the X5 and sharing.

You will love it! It's supposed to be a beginner detector but it's my main unit!
Hi Brendon. Sorry for such a late response to your post. Hopefully you were able to get out and enjoy your X5 before the lockdown kicked in?
The Quest X5 is probably the best value for money detector on the market at the moment. I still cannot think of anything that comes even close to competing with it. Plus of course, it is an incredibly versatile machine. You can change coils to give you more depth/performance if need be and also that middle shaft can be removed to make the machine more child friendly, should that need arise.
I would be very interested to hear how you have been getting on with the X5? all the best
