What is Threshold?
Threshold sets the audible "hearing floor" for underground signals. It balances background noise against target response and directly controls what you can and cannot hear.
1Threshold too high
Threshold set too high. Background noise erupts everywhere, drowning out target signals.
2Optimal threshold
Threshold sits just above noise floor. Both large and small signals stand out clearly.
3Threshold too low (0)
Threshold set too low. Noise is suppressed but the small signal is crushed along with it.
Background noise Large signal (strong target) Small signal (weak target) Threshold Note: signal strength is illustrative, not to scale
